Menopausal Syndrome (Also called Climacteric Syndrome)
Menopause is a normal phase in a women’s life when she is ending her reproductive years, her ovaries cease producing follicles, and her menses no longer come. However, a number of women experience “menopausal syndrome,” which are a variety of disturbing symptoms that accompany this life transition.
The most common Menopausal symptoms that patients seek help for are hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety and disturbed sleep. With the concerns about hormone replacement therapy, it’s good to know that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can offer safe, natural relief for these symptoms.
Although treatment is very effective, it’s important to keep in mind that the effects of acupuncture and herbs are cumulative, and it’s common to need a few months of steady treatments. The effects of stress also play a large role in the severity of these symptoms, and most of my patients feel the acupuncture brings down the stress level a few notches.
