If you’re wondering what some of those acupuncture points do for your fertility acupuncture treatment, here’s part two of my article.

I receive frequent questions about acupuncture points, and why I am putting certain acupuncture needles where I do. Part 1 covered the abdominal and chest area. This is second part will cover points on the legs and head. These are some of the most important points used to boost fertility in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Acupuncture Points of the Leg and Head.
When we are trying to improve a patient’s fertility, we are usually trying to do three main things. Improve the blood flow, support, and boost the hormonal system, and get more nutrition into the ovaries, testes and the rest of the reproductive systems. Usually to help circulation, we are heading over to the liver meridian. A famous (some would say infamous) liver acupuncture point resides between the big and second toe. It is a bit sensitive, but it is really powerful. As an added bonus it is great for stress!
On the insides of the leg run the spleen and kidney meridians. These are the ones we want to use to help boost the whole reproductive system. A lot of these points cluster near, or just above the ankle bone. These are the most powerful, although other great points run up the inside of the leg and knee. If you imagine a line running up the inside of your leg you will run right into the genital area. That’s where all these meridians pass through. Around the inside of the knee you find points for the blood, aiding the menstrual flow and treating cramps.
For improving nutrition to the reproductive system, we need to improve it for the whole body. And that’s why most of the time I use a very powerful stomach meridian point. The stomach meridian runs along the outside of the leg. It’s a strong point, and the added bonus of this point is that it helps to energize us!
Acupuncture Points for Stress.
Stress can make a huge impact on fertility. Up on the head, the points I do are to aid in making the treatment more relaxing. The point between the eyebrows is called Yin Tang. It’s also known the Third Eye point. It is excellent at promoting a nice calming effect, especially when coupled with the ear points called Shen Men (Spirit Gate). I love that name!
More acupuncture points can be added if there is more stress, anxiety, or even depression. I also love the point at the very top of the head. It’s know in the yoga world as the Crown Chakra. It has an uplifting effect.
